Woods & Urban Wild
Event Description
Storytelling Walk at London Road Cemetery
Step into the historic grounds of London Road Cemetery and experience the urban wild like never before. Guided by storyteller Pyn Stockman, wander through this Paxton-designed landscape while listening to tales of the trees, the earth, and the people who have shaped this green sanctuary. This immersive walk is a chance to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the nature on our doorstep.
About Pyn Stockman
Pyn Stockman is a professional storyteller and creative practitioner, working with oral traditions, folklore, and the natural world. She creates site-specific performances and walks that invite audiences to engage with their environment in imaginative ways, uncovering the hidden stories of places and the connections between people and nature.
Pyn performs folk and fairy tales, myths, and legends from around the world for audiences of all ages in libraries, museums, bookshops, theatres, schools, festivals, parks, woodlands, and online. She also leads workshops to help adults, young people, and children become storytellers, inspiring creative writing, performance-making, and wellbeing.
Currently, Pyn is developing “Tell It To The Bees”, a project and performance about loss and remembrance, funded by the Arts Council. She collaborates with a wide range of organisations, artists, and communities, including Secret City Arts, Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Roundhouse, Birmingham Literary Festival, Foundry Woods, Birmingham Hippodrome, Warwick Arts Centre, and Regional Library Services.
Stories are a powerful communal experience, a rich source of entertainment and a way to understand ourselves and the world around us.
