Event Description

Elementals: Movement, Memory & Ecological Emotions

A participatory movement workshop exploring the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Sky, through memory, emotion, and collective storytelling. Guided by accessible movement and simple hand gestures inspired by classical Indian dance, participants reflect on personal memories of nature and translate them into movement. Working in small groups, individual gestures are woven into short collective sequences, revealing shared stories and emotions.

No dance experience is needed. This gentle, inclusive session offers space for reflection, creativity and connection, linking personal experience with ecological awakening and social justice.

Suitable for adults and young people (12+). Movements are simple and adaptable, with options to write, observe, or move at your own pace.

Achuthamanasa is a dance-theatre artist, interdisciplinary movement practitioner, and wellbeing facilitator. A practitioner of all eight classical Indian dance forms, with deep expertise in Kuchipudi, her work bridges classical Indian dance, contemporary theatre, ecology, technology, social work practices, and climate and social justice. Rooted in embodied storytelling and community-based participation, her practice explores ecological emotions, memory, and movement. She works across dance, theatre and somatic practices to create inclusive, reflective spaces that connect personal experience with environmental awareness and collective care.
